Event information:
We’re a brand new, weekly food and produce market, just a stone’s throw from Truro city centre on Tresemple Farm, a real working farm surrounded by beautiful countryside.
Our markets are held every Saturday from 9am until 1pm, featuring a range of local farmers, producers and artisans.
Where are we?
The Farmyard Market is located at Tresemple Farm, literally just up the hill from central Truro. This 230-acre organic mixed farm is run by the lovely Rhys and Lois Morris, who’ve from the outset been committed to ‘farming with a difference.’ Using a holistic approach to regenerative agriculture, they ensure that they ultimately put more into the land and the soil than they take out.
Regenerative agriculture? It’s farming in harmony with the ecosystem. That’s everything from the livestock and hundred-year-old oak trees, all the way down to the birds, insects and microbes in the soil, working in symbiosis to yield a balanced, healthy ecosystem.
Why does this matter to us? Because doing right by the earth, and our traders and our customers is a critical tenet upon which we’re based. We want to bring people together to build friendly, healthy, mutually-beneficial relationships that support each other – much like the healthy symbiosis of life at Tresemple Farm.
Why have we started The Farmyard Market?
We’re looking to add our own fresh twist to the ever-more-vibrant Cornish food scene, and to help the local community to make better-informed, transparent and friendly food and produce decisions, with variety and excitement that’s a load more entertaining than any major grocery aisle!
Support local growers: Ready to taste the difference? Our market will bring together a diverse array of local farmers, artisans and makers, offering the freshest produce and handcrafted goods straight from the source. You’re not just getting top-quality products without the middle-man taking a slice – you’re supporting the hardworking individuals who bring them to life!
Celebrate community & culture: We’re not just about shopping at all – we’re hoping to celebrate community and culture with lively events, demonstrations and kindness, in an environment that brings people together around the shared love of food. Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or just looking for a fun weekend outing, there’s something here for everyone!
Sustainable living: We’re committed to sustainability every step of the way. From organic produce to eco-friendly packaging wherever possible, we’re striving to minimise our environmental footprint and promoting a healthier planet for future generations. By shopping local, you’re not just nourishing yourself – you’re helping to reduce both your carbon footprint, as well as that of the produce – and that’s directly preserving the planet too!
