Truro Community Library is now fully open for browsing
Truro Community Library is managed by Truro City Council and open to the public Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm and Saturday 10:00am – 4:00pm. The library is situated on the first floor of the building with a side entrance, with push button electric doors, on Union Place and a front entrance on the popular pedestrianised area; Pydar Street.
The Library service includes access to public computers, as well as printing, scanning and photocopying, and offers a large open area for book browsing and a community garden to the rear of the building. Access to the library garden is during library opening hours.
The ‘Flying Aubergine Cafe’ is located at the front entrance of the library on Pydar Street.
Regular Library Events
Storytime
Mondays at 2pm and Wednesdays at 10am – join us for stories, music and craft activities for babies and pre-schoolers.
Reading Group
1st Thursday of every month at 2pm – join the group to discuss books you’re reading or have read. There’s no set book just come along and share a love of reading.
Poetry Group
2nd Thursday of every month at 2pm – enjoy reading or writing poetry? Come join this friendly and supportive group to share a love of poetry and the written word.
Material Girls
Every Wednesday 10am – 12pm – join a fun, informal social group of like-minded crafters using a variety of skills and materials. Chat, exchange ideas and skills and drink tea!

Meeting Rooms
The library building has three meeting rooms available to hire for business and community use. Two top floor rooms, with shared use of kitchen facilities, can be hired for full day or half day. Both rooms have recently been refurbished with state of the art audio and visual equipment. These are flexible spaces that can be arranged in different layouts depending on type of meeting.
- Theatre style (no table) can accommodate 25 – 50 people.
- Boardroom style (central table) 18 people.
- First floor smaller training room can accommodate 12 – 15 people with fixed tables.
All rooms come with flip chart paper and pens and free Wi Fi as part of the contractual agreement.
Projectors and audio can be hired for an additional £10 daily charge.
There are toilet facilities, lift access on all floors and a ground floor Café.
