Insekterium
A varied programme of songs featuring those insects we admire and those we revile.
From Sibelius’ Dragonfly to Beethoven’s Flea, composers have delighted and deliberated in their depictions of these complex and crucial creatures.
Nina Vinther is a British-Danish mezzo soprano based in London. She began singing as a chorister at St. Albans Cathedral. She gained a scholarship with Trinity College Choir in Cambridge whilst studying French and German, and became the first female alto in St. John’s College Choir. Nina has an MMus in Vocal Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, wings with various choirs and ensembles, and enjoys putting together multilingual and environmentally-curious programmes.
Manchester-born, George Herbert studied German and Music at the University of Cambridge; and has a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music where he is studying for an MA in Ensemble Piano and is a member of the Academy Song Circle. He is a Samling Artist, a Leeds Song Young Artist, and a participant in the Wigmore Halll’s French Song Exchange. George looks forward to upcoming recitals at the Wigmore Hall, the Salle Cortot in Paris and Hallwyska in Stockholm.
