From unforgettable events and bustling markets to family-friendly fun and exciting new openings, Our Great Little City has been bursting with activity all year long!

A Spectacular Start to the Year

Back in January 2025, we kicked the year off with a bang at Truro City Council’s annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks Displays, which lit up the skies of Truro and brought the community spirit together.

At the beginning of the year, we also saw Luxmuralis visit Truro Cathedral. This breathtaking immersive light and sound installation transformed the cathedral with its awe-inspiring ‘Space’ theme, welcoming many visitors into a truly immersive experience. If you missed it, there’s good news! Luxmuralis is confirmed to return to Truro in January 2026 with a new theme, ‘Time’. Find out more here.

Celebrating Independent Businesses and New Arrivals

It’s been a standout year for Truro’s award-winning independent businesses. Our local favourites continued to thrive, with Native Grain gaining national recognition as one of Britain’s Best Bakeries, while newcomers such as Cookie Queen added even more variety to the city. Alongside our independents, we also welcomed new high street names, including Majestic Wine and Poundstretcher, further strengthening Truro’s retail offer.

Spring Traditions

March brought Cornish tradition to the forefront of Truro’s streets with a lively St Piran’s Day celebration parade. The month also marked a major milestone for Truro’s heritage with the reopening of Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery, following its highly anticipated refurbishment. Explore the rejuvenated Heart of Cornwall Gallery and the stunning Nature Gallery, which showcases fascinating Cornish artefacts, objects and artworks.

Over the Easter holidays, families enjoyed Truro City Council’s Easter Trail, hunting for wooden bunnies around Victoria Gardens, alongside a programme of fun-filled Easter activities for children.

Discover Truro’s Markets

2025 was truly a year for local markets in Truro. From the biweekly Truro Farmers’ Markets and the monthly BIG Truro Market to the weekly Farmyard Market and more, there was always something unique, local and exciting to discover.

Summer Fun in the Sun

Summer brought a jam-packed programme for young people and families. Children’s Day returned to the city alongside Our Great Little Kids Club, which offers creative, engaging activities for little ones. Visit Truro also ran a successful ‘Six Days of Summer Giveaways’ in line with Our Great Little Kids Club, working with local businesses who donated fantastic prizes.

Music lovers were also treated to a bumper Bandstand Concerts series in Victoria Gardens in 2025. For the first time, Truro City Council extended the summer concert series into September, hosting weekly Sunday performances in the heart of the city.
