A hidden woodland escape in Truro

Just a short walk from Truro city centre, Coosebean Woodland is one of the city’s hidden green spaces. Following the River Kenwyn, this tranquil woodland offers peaceful walking trails, boardwalks and an ever-changing landscape to enjoy throughout the seasons.

Maintained by Truro City Council’s Countryside Ranger Team, alongside dedicated volunteers and local craftspeople, the woodland is carefully managed to protect its rich wildlife and natural habitats while making it as accessible as possible. Boardwalks and bark-covered paths help visitors explore the woodland, although sturdy footwear is recommended after wet weather.

The neighbouring Northern Meadows have been enhanced through tree planting by local schools and community groups, helping to support biodiversity across the site. Sustainable management is at the heart of Coosebean Woodland, with natural materials reused to create valuable wildlife habitats.

Whether you’re looking for a peaceful walk, somewhere to enjoy nature, exercise the dog or spend time with the family, Coosebean Woodland offers a relaxing escape into the countryside just moments from the heart of Truro.

Top tip: Wear sturdy footwear or wellington boots during wetter months, as some woodland paths can become muddy.
