Truro Pannier Market – Open Daily (Excluding Sundays & Bank Holidays)

When: 8am – 5pm (stall opening times may vary)

Where: Pannier Market, Back Quay

The Pannier Market is Truro’s traditional indoor market, featuring unique stalls bursting with tasty food, crafts, and Cornish specialities. This is a place for people to come together in a community hub setting for both residents and visitors.

This market is the largest niche retail area in the city and began operating as a market in the late 1970s. In those days, traders would set up their stalls using panniers (baskets that were once used to carry goods on the backs of animals) and sold their products from tabletops. Did you know, the term “pannier” comes from the French word meaning ‘basket’, so “pannier market” translates to “basket market”!

Adjacent to the Pannier Market is Tinner’s Court, a small but lively courtyard that hosts independent shops and eateries, including Cookie Queen, Joli Boutique, Music Nostalgia, and Fodders Espresso Bar.
