Event information:

Trelissick will be hosting an exhibition from Truro Art Society between 2 – 17 May in the stables. The exhibition, featuring work from a number of local amateur and professional artists, will include a range of media in the display.

Truro Art Society was established in the 1950s and, aside from a couple of revamps, continues today. The members and guests meet once a month on a Thursday morning to share their interest in art with interactive talks and demonstrations from local artists.

Most members are amateur artists with a sprinkling of professionals. Being an artist is not a precursor to joining the society with opportunities to socialise and learn about others’ artistic methods.

An eclectic mix of media are used by members including watercolour, oil, acrylic, pastel, pen and pencil sketches, block printing and collage. Subjects covered include seascapes, landscapes, botany, portraits, still life, and abstract studies. A lot of the Truro Art Society members are inspired by Cornish life, environment and light levels leading to some beautiful paintings. Previous exhibitions have also included ceramics, wood turning and handicrafts.

Please be aware that admission to Trelissick applies and that dogs will not be permitted in the stables.
