Wednesday 15th December 2021
The City Centre Christmas Lights will be illuminating Truro and the main shopping streets will be traffic free from 15.00 to give you space to shop, eat and drink.
Shoppers can get into the Christmas spirit with entertainment, street food and drink in Boscawen Street, and Truro Farmers Market’s Big Christmas Market will be open on Lemon Quay with a selection of the finest local food, drink, arts and crafts until 21.00.
Look out for some street entertainment and music to get you into the Christmas spirit.
To add to the atmosphere, large visuals will be projected for the fourth year in a row on the TUI building in Boscawen Street and on the Arts Café in River St. The content for the large-scale projections this year is festive artwork produced by seven local primary schools who entered a Christmas Card Competition. This was organised by Truro BID & Joli Boutique (in Pannier Market) in aid of the charity Shelter Box.
Special thanks to Mayor of Truro Cllr Steven Webb who judged this year's entries. Well done to the winner, Charlie - aged 9 from Devoran School- whose artwork has been made into a Christmas card. Packs of the winning Christmas card (costing £4 for 10 cards) can be bought from Truro Community Library, the Truro Visitor Information Centre (Visit Truro), and Joli Boutique in Truro Pannier Market. All proceeds from the card sales will go to ShelterBox.
Truro Cathedral is also open for extended visiting hours on all late-night shopping Wednesdays. They will be open until 20.00, and there will be carols on High Cross by the Rotary Club.
The street entertainment, traffic-free shopping streets for Wednesday evenings and large-scale projectors, have been funded by Truro BID.
The Park and Ride will operate later on Late-Night Shopping dates. The last services will leave the City Centre at 21.30. Click here for more information on Park and Ride.
