Event information:

Lemon Quay is set to host a vibrant gathering of local producers showcasing their goods, marking the early arrival of spring in Cornwall with the scent of freshly baked pasties wafting through the air.

Taking place on Saturday, March 2nd, from 9am to 4pm, just ahead of St. Piran’s Day on the following Tuesday, this event promises a feast for all senses. Cornwall’s finest food and drink artisans will be joined by street food vendors offering a diverse array of culinary delights, from gourmet burgers to colorful poke bowls.

For those with a sweet tooth, a tempting selection of traditional Cornish fare awaits, including Saffron Buns, Hevva Cake, and Fairings, alongside modern treats like cookie sandwiches and freshly made crepes.

But the offerings don’t stop there – the event will also feature a curated selection of sustainable fashion, handmade jewelry, organic skincare, and vintage collectibles, showcasing Cornwall’s rich tradition of creativity and craftsmanship.

Entertainment, family activities, street performers, and even vintage tractors will be interspersed among the market stalls, ensuring a memorable day out for visitors of all ages. And to set the mood, live music performances, including from acclaimed Cornish singer-songwriter Will Keating, will provide a fitting soundtrack to the festivities.

Pasty Competition

The eagerly awaited Pasty Making Competition returns, accompanied by a new showdown, The Battle of The Bakeries.

Open to all, the Pasty Making Competition will be judged by the Buscombe family from The Cornish Mill & Bakehouse, renowned for their multi-generational expertise in producing top-quality baked goods.

Contestants can compete in two categories:

  • Cornwall’ for traditional Cornish pasties
  • Rest of the World’ for innovative flavors and ingredients from around the globe.

Judges will assess crimping skills, ingredient quality, and taste.

Participants should bring their ready-to-eat pasty to Lemon Quay between 10am – midday on March 2nd for judging, with winners announced later that day and prizes awarded.

In addition, local bakeries are invited to join The Battle Of The Bakeries; interested parties can email for details or stay updated on Truro Farmers Market social media channels.
