Formed in London in 2021 by Georgian pianist Ana Gogava and Peruvian violist Varinia Oyola-Rebaza, Duo Aina is dedicated to exploring the rich intricacies of the viola and piano repertoire while bringing their distinctive artistic personalities to their performances. They are committed to featuring established masterworks alongside contemporary and lesser-known pieces from their home countries.
International award winners, Ana was the First Prize winner at the 2019 Birmingham International Piano Competition and a Prize winner at the Geza Anda International Piano Competition in Switzerland. Varinia won the First Prize and Audience Prize at the 2018 International Chamber Music Competition Massimo Antonelli in Italy and was awarded an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music for her contributions to the music profession.
They chose the name Aina (forever, that which feeds) in recognition of the power of music to nurture and connect people.
