Join Falmouth Shout on the west lawn at Trelissick for a narrated singalong travelling around the world in 18 shanties.

Travelling from Cornwall they’ll take you to Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii – encountering mermaids along the way. From there you’ll journey around Cape Horn, through South America to the Caribbean where there’ll be risk of pirates. From Mexico you’ll travel the East coast of the United States before braving the Atlantic, Greenland and the Bay of Biscay to head home to Cornwall.

You’ll hear about the history of shanties in each of the places, as well as plenty of Cornish songs.

This is the first of a series of musical appearances this summer as part of Summer of Play at Trelissick. We’ll also be joined by:
1 August – Jake Harrison
8 August – Martin and Suzie Mac
22 August – Daisy Clark
29 August – Martin and Suzie Mac

Fridays are also fancy dress days at Trelissick this summer, a chance to get dressed up for your visit and let your imagination loose. We can’t wait to see what fantastical creatures you create for your visit and hope we’re joined by plenty of pirates on 25 July.

With different activities scheduled every weekday there’s there are so many reasons to play on repeat at Trelissick.

Summer of Play activities are free (normal admission applies), so you can try them all and come back again and again. Dogs on short leads are permitted in the garden at Trelissick, keeping paws on paths.

Summer of Play is sponsored by Starling Bank
