Philleigh Folk Club Presents Annown
Annown are a ‘dynamic duo’ who write and perform original, modern folk songs based on quirky Cornish history and folklore with elements of rockabilly, old time rock’n’roll, traditional folk, choral music and a bit of hip-hop in the mix.
They have released 5 albums to date, 2 of which have been ‘Albums of the Week’, one on Blues and Roots Radio and the other on The Richard Harris Blues and Folk show.
In 2019 Tom Robinson on his BBC Radio 6 ‘Fresh On The Net’ show selected an Annown track, ‘Isolde’ as one of the 12 best spoken word tracks of the year. In 2021 Visit Isles of Scilly used ‘If Wishes Were Horses’ from Annown’s first album to advertise their holidays.
In all, the duo has racked up well over 100 radio plays on various stations and appeared at many festivals, including Cornwall Folk Festival, Rock Oyster Festival, 3 Wishes Fairy Festival, Firefly, Tide Over and Sea View Folk festivals.
