Summer has arrived in Truro, and the city is packed with exciting activities for children!

Whether you’re a local or planning to visit, we’ve put together a list to keep your little ones entertained throughout the holidays in Our Great Little City.

 

Our Great Little Kids Club & Denzel Trail

28th July – 29th August 2025

Our Great Little Kids Club returns to Truro this summer, offering free activities for children every weekday afternoon between 2pm and 3pm at Victoria Gardens Bandstand, from Monday 28th July to Friday 29th August. (Please note: sessions on Tuesdays will be held at the Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery, River Street.)

This year’s programme includes:

All sessions are free and open to primary school-aged children.

The popular Denzel the Hedgehog Town Trail will also be running across the city centre! Pick up a free activity pack at Truro Community Library or the Visitor Information Centre on Boscawen Street to join the fun.

Our Great Little Kids Club is organised by Truro City Council in partnership with Visit Truro, Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery, and Hall for Cornwall.

Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery: I Grew Up 80s Exhibition

12th July – 12th October 2025

Step back in time at Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery with the I Grew Up 80s exhibition, where over 200 nostalgic items take you on a trip down memory lane.

For those who grew up in the 80s, it’s a blast from the past – complete with interactive games, 80s-inspired dress-up, and even crafting sessions. For younger visitors, this is a chance to explore the pre-Internet era!

Hall For Cornwall: Dinosaur World Live

12th – 14th August 2025

Prepare for a prehistoric adventure in Dinosaur World Live, an interactive show that promises to thrill the whole family.

This exciting, action-packed performance is a must-see for young explorers and dinosaur enthusiasts alike!

Summer Reading Challenge at Truro Community Library

5th July – 6th September 2025

This summer, dive into a Story Garden with the Summer Reading Challenge at Truro Community Library. Children aged 4 to 11 are invited to read six books over the summer holidays and receive fun rewards for taking part, such as stickers, as well as a medal and certificate on completion.

In addition, the library will host exciting activities for everyone to get involved in. The Summer Reading Challenge is a great way to spark your child’s imagination while encouraging a love of reading!

 

Parks & Play Areas

Truro is home to several lovely parks and play areas, perfect for outdoor fun and imaginative minds. Here are our top picks:

  • Hendra Playing Fields: A great place to play featuring a skate park, playing field, and play equipment, all situated just behind Victoria Gardens.
  • Boscawen Park: Come and explore the fun natural play area with swings, slides, and climbing equipment, as well as sports facilities, tennis courts, and Café in the Park. This is also the perfect place for small children to cycle, scoot and enjoy the open spaces! Don’t forget to visit the duck pond opposite Trennick Mill!
  • Victoria Gardens: A hidden gem in the heart of the city, with a beautiful selection of trees, shrubs, and flower beds – perfect for your little one to tune in with nature. Enjoy an ice cream & delightful refreshments at Pollen, situated in the gardens. Enjoy weekly Bandstand Concerts on Sunday afternoons between 14.30 and 16.00. The Gardens are open daily from 08.00 ’til dusk. Please note, the gardens may close in bad weather.

 

Trelissick: Summer of Play

19th July – 2nd September

  • Enigma Escape Rooms: Can you solve the puzzles and escape in time? Try out the brand new room this summer, Fear of the Unknown, for 90 minutes of immersive storytelling! Open every day 9am to 9pm over the summer holidays. 3 exciting experiences to choose from. (From ages 8+ with adult supervision, from groups of 2 up to 20 across all 3 rooms!)
  • Giant Inflatable Fun Sessions: Head to the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre for some high-energy inflatable fun.
  • Player Ready Virtual Reality: Play at PC Virtual Reality stations loaded with fun games, zombie experiences, Escape Rooms, and immersive experiences for all ages, played standing to allow free movement.
